What a special day at the Special Olympics!
On Friday, April 11, our Meadow View students joined with Alabaster City Schools for an unforgettable day of encouragement, celebration, and competition. We are incredibly proud of our students who represented MVES with heart, determination, and joy!
These photos say it all — smiles, high-fives, and so much school spirit! A huge thank you to our amazing staff, volunteers, and families who made this day possible. Way to go, MVES!

From Mrs. Toy's 2nd grade class:
Our class has been working hard to prepare for ACAP math testing this week! With Super Mario Math, our class has worked on geometry, partitioning, fractions, measurement, addition and subtraction, word problems, arrays, graphing, and more! We worked to escape Luigi’s mansion by solving word problems to beat King Boo, and raced down the Mario Kart Speedway! Students earned Yoshi Eggs for completing awesome work and could level up their character with Mario coins! This week has been a blast, and not even Bowser could stop these kids from doing their best!

Mrs. Ross' pre-k class planting seeds! ☀️🌿🌼

Ms. Simmons' 1st grade class delivered encouraging cards to Ms. Shaw's 3rd grade class before they take the ACAP test this week! ❤️❤️

Super proud of our Mathletes this week! ✖️➗➕

Meadow View is so very proud of our Character in Action Award finalists! Both of these girls are leaders in our second grade and great examples of character throughout the school!
Natalya, our top winner, is responsible and respectful. She is friendly and caring with her peers and the adults throughout the building, never shying away from a challenge.
Johanna, our runner up, demonstrates an incredible positive attitude towards her schoolwork and her classmates. She is quick to offer assistance to anyone in need.

Mrs. Holmes, Mrs. Jeffcoat and Mrs. Johnson’s Kindergarten classes created a 3D Shape Museum! Students brought in 3D shapes from home. This helps students discover, manipulate, explore, and discuss 3D shapes in the world around them! Students were able to sort the shapes into categories based on their attributes and they had conversations about why shapes belong (or don’t belong) in particular categories. After students created the museum, we were able to enter with a ticket, observe the exhibits, and record what we noticed. Hands on learning is our favorite!

Mrs. Goggins' 2nd grade class using Playdough to practice partitioning shapes into halves, thirds, and fourths!

Mrs. Harris' 1st grade class got to learn about building their prefix word puzzles! They had to find the matching prefix/root word to their puzzle piece, read the word, and define it for the class!

Matching in Ms. Mazingo's 1st grade class! ❤️

Ms. Canaday's 3rd grade class wrote a classroom book about their lives in 20 years! 📖

So proud of all of our Reader Leaders! 📚

Students in Ms. Mazingo’s 1st grade class practiced fluency with a reader’s theater titled, “A Rainy Bus Ride.” They worked together to create their props, practice reading with fluency and perform for their classmates! Great Job!

Our students are having fun participating in the Alabaster Water Board coloring contest. These friends are showing off their super fun keychains they received for turning in their color sheet! Be sure to turn yours in by 4/25 to get a keychain and enter to win the grand prize!
