The heels are on and the lights are up!
The Thompson High School Miss THS Pageant has finished and when the moment came, there was only one winner.
The night showcased the girls of Thompson's confidence, beauty and how they make THS special. The crown for Miss THS goes to Senior Simone Jones, who has held the title for every grade since freshman year.
"It honestly just feels like an honor to win Miss THS. I know that I've competed in pageants for a very long time, so it just feels rewarding," said Jones. " I know that to be able to fit the role of what the judges want, you have to be humble. You have to be very confident, and I feel like those are attributes that really describe me, so I'm just really glad that the judges picked me to fulfill that duty."
With this year's theme "Isn't She Lovely", each girl walked on stage into the spotlight to show judges what really makes them stand out among other. Jones spoke about what she wants people to remember about her.
"I hope that they remember that I've worked really hard for things that I win," said Jones.
Even though there can only be one winner, every contestant brought something new to the stage no one had ever seen. There was a moment for each girl to truly show off how lovely they really are. Jones says the crown is more than an accessory, it's a reminder of who supported her and her journey through competing.
"Obviously the crown represents sparkle and glitter, but also, it kind of reminds be of what goes on behind the crown, like the hard work that it takes to get there to achieve the crown and the sash of what the judges are looking for, so just behind the scenes it just means the grit and hard work," said Jones.
From getting ready backstage to walking across it, these girls have done more than just compete for the crown. They have worked and prepared to show their individuality, and shine for the people supporting them.
Congrats to all of the winner of Miss THS!
