Brandon Walker flag football

Alabaster City Schools is excited to announce the addition of girls flag football at Thompson High School, with the program set to begin competition in fall 2026.

This new team represents an exciting opportunity for student-athletes and reflects the continued growth of flag football across Alabama. As the sport gains momentum statewide, Thompson is proud to provide another avenue for students to get involved, compete, and represent their school.

Leading the program will be Brandon Walker. Coach Walker brings a strong football background and a proven track record of success at both the collegiate and high school levels. A former student-athlete at the University of West Alabama, Walker went on to serve as a defensive assistant for the program.

"We are excited to welcome Coach Walker to lead this new chapter of Thompson Athletics," said Vincent Pitts, Director of Athletics at Thompson High School. "His experience, leadership, and passion for the game make him the ideal person to establish and grow our flag football program from the ground up. We were thrilled with Coach Walker's eagerness, readiness, and willingness to establish this program and transition to the world of flag football."

"I'm incredibly honored to be selected as the first head coach of Thompson's flag football program," said Walker. "This is a unique opportunity to build something special and provide student-athletes with a platform to compete, grow, and represent their school with pride. I'm excited to get to work."

As the inaugural season approaches, anticipation is already building among students, staff, and the community. The Warriors look forward to taking the field this fall and beginning a new chapter in Thompson Athletics.
