ALABASTER, Ala. — Alabaster City Schools invites students and families to attend An Evening With the Experts: ACT Prep with Faye Nichols, a free educational event designed to empower students with the tools they need to excel on the ACT.
The event will take place on Monday, November 17, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Thompson High School Performing Arts Center. This special evening, hosted in partnership with the Faye Nichols ACT Prep Company, offers attendees a chance to meet the ACT Prep Team, hear directly from seasoned instructors, and learn effective strategies to boost ACT performance.
Meet the Experts
Faye Nichols – Owner and President
With more than 38 years of experience, Faye Nichols has helped thousands of students and families navigate the ACT journey. A leader in ACT professional development, Nichols has worked with 27 schools and developed comprehensive ACT Prep programs and resources. She holds a B.S. and M.A. in Education with a concentration in Reading and previously taught at Jefferson State Community College. Nichols and her husband, Larry, have three adult children and five grandchildren.
Matt Haynes – Vice President and Executive Assistant
Matt Haynes has served as a Science and Reading specialist, teacher, and tutor for 13 years with the Faye Nichols ACT Prep Company. He has provided ACT training in more than 20 schools and is widely known for his innovative reading and test-taking strategies that help students overcome challenges in comprehension and pacing. Haynes holds degrees in Biology (Pre-Med) and Business Management. He and his wife, LeAnne Nichols Haynes, have one son.
Patrick Herren – ACT Specialist
Patrick Herren brings 13 years of experience in ACT English and Reading instruction. An ACT Instructor Certification holder, curriculum developer, and former high school English teacher, Herren’s expertise helps students build skills and confidence. He holds a B.A. in English and is the proud father of three and grandfather of one.
Together, the Faye Nichols ACT Prep Team provides a wealth of experience, practical strategies, and resources to help students prepare for success on the ACT. Their ongoing partnership with Alabaster City Schools strengthens academic support for both students and teachers throughout the year.
