In late April, thirty-four juniors and seniors concluded their year-long AP Research Capstone projects, presenting and defending original studies on topics of personal interest. The course, part of the College Board’s Capstone program, emphasizes inquiry-based learning and independent research. Students explored a wide range of subjects, including crime rates, education access, media representation, and global conflict. After presenting to a panel of educators, panelist Angie Glover praised their efforts, saying, “These kids will be able to accomplish anything in life.” Students reflected on the valuable skills they gained, such as time management, research design, and critical thinking. Teacher Crystal Lamar described their work as “doctoral-level” and expressed pride in their accomplishments. Senior Brooke Sanner said the experience taught her to think independently and defend her ideas with confidence.
