THS - Thompson High School celebrated its future educators at its Future Educators Signing Day, held in mid-April.
The annual event, organized by THS Education Academy Director Mrs. Felicia Smith, provides a unique setting to recognize a special group of seniors committed to pursuing careers in education.
Each student signed a symbolic commitment to the college/institution where they plan to continue their journey, marking an exciting and meaningful milestone in their lives.
This year’s future educators include:
Britton Pierce – Troy University
Ansley O'Neal – Jacksonville State University
Abby Moore – Calhoun Community College
Bella Monk – University of Montevallo
Kinzie Justice – University of Montevallo
Maggie Fesh – University of Montevallo
Emma Combs – University of Montevallo
Tatum Boothe – University of Montevallo (December graduate)
Hannah Hall – University of Alabama in Huntsville
Fernando Casillas – Seminary with the Catholic Church
Mrs. Smith—who is also retiring at the end of the 2024-2025 School Year—shared her pride in her students and their goal of giving back to future students.
“I am beyond proud of these students for committing to be educators. They will definitely be difference makers in the lives of their students because they are already difference makers at Thompson High School. I have taught six of them throughout their entire high school career, and I am a better person because of them.”
ACS Assistant Superintendent and THS Principal Dr. Wesley Hester also addressed the students and the audience, which included representatives from several institutions where these students will be headed.
