ALABASTER, AL – Thompson Middle School was honored as an Alabama Semiquincentennial School, a prestigious state designation recognizing the school’s commitment to educating students about the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The honor, part of the state's America250 Alabama initiative, highlights TMS’s dedication to exploring the history, foundational values, and lasting legacy of the nation leading up to the grand milestone celebration.

To directly engage the student body in this historic event, Thompson Middle School launched its official Semiquincentennial Club. Sponsored by faculty members, including Mrs. Garibay, the club provided students with a unique hands-on opportunity to spearhead community projects, historical research, and campus-wide events.

The club held regular early morning interest and planning meetings, where student members collaborated on activities designed to bring American history to life for their peers. Club members also had the opportunity to take a field trip to American Village for an immersive learning experience about colonial America.

"Thompson Middle School looks forward to helping students celebrate and learn from this major milestone in American history," the school shared in an announcement to parents and the community.

As Alabaster City Schools integrated these patriotic, educational milestones into the academic year, the TMS Semiquincentennial Club served as the hub for 250th-anniversary activities on the Warrior campus.
