ALABASTER, AL – While the lazy days of summer are in full swing, the halls and community spaces of Alabaster are buzzing with energy as Thompson Middle School (TMS) students dive headfirst into the 2026 Summer Learning Camp. Far from a traditional summer school experience, this year's camp bridges the gap between grade levels with highly engaging, hands-on activities centered on math and reading excellence.

Alabaster City Schools designed the program to counteract the classic "summer slide"—the learning loss that often occurs over the long break. By keeping students academically active, TMS ensures that Warriors return in August feeling confident, capable, and ready to conquer the upcoming school year.

The core mission of the TMS Summer Learning Camp focuses on strengthening essential foundations in literacy and mathematics, but with a creative twist. Rather than relying solely on repetitive worksheets, educators are bringing the curriculum to life.

As the camp wraps up, Alabaster City Schools is also supporting at-home learning by providing the ACS Summer 2026 Math and Reading Resources toolkit online. This special edition toolkit ensures that all families have access to educational materials to keep students engaged right up until the first day of school.

With another highly successful summer camp in the books, Thompson Middle School's rising students are well-equipped, energized, and ready to lead the way this fall. Go Warriors!
