ALABASTER, AL — Thompson Middle School was looking extra cozy and incredibly stylish on Friday, May 15th, all for a fantastic cause. The TMS National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) hosted a school-wide Hat Day and Pajama Day Fundraiser, rallying the student body to raise an impressive $1,600 to support Joe Jackson’s Dog World in Jemison, Alabama.
For a small donation, Warriors were invited to ditch the standard dress code for the day, sporting their favorite caps, beanies, and comfiest pajamas to class.
Joe Jackson’s Dog World, located just down the road in Chilton County, is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit dog rescue and no-kill animal sanctuary. The facility is dedicated to rescuing displaced dogs, providing them with a safe haven, and giving them a second chance at finding a loving, forever home.
Because the sanctuary relies entirely on donations to cover food, medical care, and shelter upkeep, the money raised by TMS students will directly impact the lives of countless rescue dogs.
The generosity didn't stop at the school doors. On Saturday, May 16th—just a day after the fundraiser—a handful of dedicated TMS NJHS students traveled to Jemison to visit Joe Jackson’s Dog World in person.
The students had the opportunity to deliver the $1,600 donation directly to the rescue, meet the staff, and spend quality time with the dogs. It was an eye-opening experience that showed the young leaders exactly how selflessness, kindness, and community charity translate into real-world good.
Thank you to all of our TMS students and staff who participated in this fundraiser! NJHS is sponsored by Mr. Wilbanks and Mrs. Sawyer.
