ALABASTER – Support personnel from across Alabaster City Schools were recognized by the ACS Board of Education and superintendent and given plaques during a meeting on Monday, March 16.
ACS Superintendent Dr. Wayne Vickers welcomed those in attendance to the recognition and expressed his excitement for the chance to honor all of the support staff who make operations in ACS possible.
“This is probably my favorite time of the year because I get to brag on a lot of people,” Vickers said.
The first group of staff recognized during the meeting was the school system’s bus drivers, also known as transportation personnel. Vickers highlighted that for approximately 5,000 students in ACS, the first person they meet during the day is their bus driver, which he describes as an opportunity that can make the whole day for each kid.
“It’s not always just about the classroom,” Vickers said. “It’s about everyone working together to make things happen.”
The following support personnel were recognized by the Alabaster City Schools BOE:
Creek View Elementary School: Jessica Mitchell

The ACS Board of Education also recognized Karen Snyder as the school system’s Elementary Counselor of the Year and RaTonya Mosley as the Secondary Counselor of the Year for the work they do in providing advice and comfort to students.
“It’s so valuable what goes on with our counselors,” Vickers said. “I don’t think you’ll find a school system that invests in a counseling program the way we do, but it pays dividends.”
The last group the board recognized were ACS’s support personnel, with one representative chosen from each school and the central office, with one overall winner.
“One thing I love about our recognition programs is that we have a chance to recognize all different facets of support,” Vickers said.
