ACS - Alabaster City Schools has earned its highest-ever score on the Alabama State Department of Education’s annual report card, receiving a 94 for the 2024-2025 School Year, the most recent reporting period. The newly-released score marks the district’s fifth consecutive “A” and reflects continued improvement across multiple performance areas.

The 94 score represents measurable progress compared to last year’s 91 and underscores the district’s commitment to academic excellence. District leaders said the results highlight the work of teachers, staff, students, families, and community partners who have contributed to Alabaster City Schools’ upward trajectory.

Key indicators on the 2025 report card show strong or improving performance across the district. Academic growth reached high levels, demonstrating that students continued making significant year-to-year progress. The graduation rate remained extremely high (99%), and a 99% College and Career Readiness Indicator score again showed that ACS students are well prepared for success beyond high school. The district also recorded meaningful gains in English Learner (EL) proficiency and saw a decline in chronic absenteeism. Academic achievement improved as well, and district officials said they are continuing efforts to raise proficiency levels even further.

Superintendent Dr. Wayne Vickers said the record score reflects the district’s focus on meeting the needs of every student.

“We are extremely proud to earn a 94 and our fifth straight ‘A,’” Vickers said. “This success is the result of remarkable work by our teachers and staff, the commitment of our families, and the hard work of our students. We are grateful for the continued support of our community, and we will keep building on this momentum to ensure every child has the opportunity to excel.”

The Alabama State Report Card is an A–F accountability system created by the Alabama Legislature to provide a clear, public measure of school and district performance. The report card evaluates schools and school systems using multiple indicators, including academic achievement, academic growth, graduation rate, college and career readiness, progress of English learners and chronic absenteeism. The annual ratings are released by the Alabama State Department of Education to help families and communities understand how well schools are serving students and where continued improvement is needed.

The district’s fifth consecutive “A” underscores Alabaster City Schools’ position as one of the state’s consistently high-performing school systems and reflects the community’s long-term investment in its students and schools.
