Thompson Middle School is proud to announce that Ms. Sara Barnett has been selected as the 2025 Support Person of the Year! Mrs. Barnett is currently in her second year as a paraprofessional—and her second year as a valued member of the TMS family.
Ms. Barnett’s journey to becoming a paraprofessional began when she was looking for a consistent, full-time position that would also allow her to share the same schedule as her children. Before joining TMS, she served as a substitute paraprofessional throughout the school system, where she quickly realized how much she enjoyed working with students and supporting teachers in the classroom.
When asked what she loves most about her role, Ms. Barnett shared, “My favorite thing about being a para is working alongside the students and seeing them achieve success in the classroom. I aim to be their biggest cheerleader and encouragement while keeping them on task to be the best student they can be.”
Ms. Barnett’s dedication, positivity, and passion for helping students succeed shine through in everything she does. Her colleagues describe her as kind, dependable, and deeply invested in the success of both her students and the school community.
