Alabaster, AL — Eighth-grade students at Thompson Middle School are gaining powerful insights into one of history’s darkest periods as part of their English Language Arts curriculum. As part of their ongoing study of the Holocaust, students in Mrs. Moreno’s class received a special visit from Mrs. Ann Mollengarden, an Applied Researcher from the Alabama Holocaust Education Center in Birmingham.

Mrs. Mollengarden spoke to students about the historical significance of the Holocaust and the importance of remembering its lessons today. Her presentation brought to life the stories of survivors and victims, helping students connect more deeply with the literature and themes they are studying in class.

The Alabama Holocaust Education Center is dedicated to keeping the memory of the Holocaust alive through education and outreach. The presentation left a strong impression on the students, many of whom expressed appreciation for the chance to learn in such a personal and powerful way.
