Join us in celebrating Ms. Nidia Escamilla from Thompson Intermediate for being named the 2026 Alabama AMTESOL Friend of ESOL Award recipient!
The "Friend of ESOL" award is a prestigious honor that specifically recognizes individuals serving outside of the ESOL field who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to the success of multilingual students. It is reserved for those who take a special interest in meeting the needs of these students and their families while championing the goals of local ESOL programs. This year, Ms. Escamilla stands out as the recipient for the entire state of Alabama for 2026.
As a front office receptionist, Nidia has truly become a superhero for our community. She serves as a vital bridge between the school and families, ensuring the front office is a safe, supportive place. Her dedication is proactive, and through close collaboration with teachers, she provides academic and community resources that strengthen family engagement school-wide and foster trusting relationships that positively impact instruction.
We are so proud to have Nidia on our team, making a lasting impact on our students every single day!
