Our fifth-grade GRC students recently had an exciting and unforgettable field trip experience at iFLY Atlanta, where learning and adventure went hand in hand. The trip gave students a unique opportunity to experience the thrill of indoor skydiving while building confidence, teamwork skills, and perseverance.
During the visit, students learned about the science behind flight, including concepts such as gravity, wind speed, and aerodynamics. Trained instructors worked closely with students to explain how the wind tunnel works and how body positioning helps control movement while flying. Students were fully engaged as they connected these scientific concepts to their own hands-on experience.
The highlight of the trip was, of course, the chance for each student to suit up and take flight. With the guidance and support of instructors, students experienced the sensation of floating on air in a safe and controlled environment. Many students stepped outside of their comfort zones, showing bravery and determination as they tried something new and exciting.
Beyond the thrill of the experience, the trip encouraged students to support and cheer for one another. The positive atmosphere helped strengthen friendships and reminded students of the importance of encouragement and teamwork. Teachers and chaperones were extremely proud of the respectful behavior, responsibility, and enthusiasm displayed by our students throughout the day.
The visit to Atlanta provided a memorable learning opportunity that combined science, adventure, and personal growth. Experiences like this help students see how classroom learning connects to real-world applications while creating lasting memories with their classmates.
We are thankful for the staff, volunteers, and families who helped make this field trip possible. Opportunities like this continue to inspire curiosity, confidence, and excitement for learning among our students.
