This week's Staff Spotlight goes to Pre-K Aid, Lauren Drescher!
1. What inspired you to pursue a career in education?
I’ve always loved working with children and watching them learn and grow. There’s just something so special about being part of those little “aha!” moments and knowing you helped make a difference. I love that every day is different, and every moment is a teaching and learning moment.
2. What’s your favorite part of working with students?
Definitely seeing their personalities come out and watching them learn new things. I love when they get excited about something and seeing how proud they are when they accomplish something they’ve been working on. The hugs are pretty great too!
3. If you weren’t in education, what do you think you’d be doing?
Honestly, I’m not really sure! I’ve always felt like working with children is what I’m meant to do, so it’s hard to picture myself doing something completely different.
4. Do you have any professional goals you’re working on this year?
I want to continue growing as a teacher and learning new ways to make our classroom a fun, welcoming place where every child feels loved, safe, and excited to learn.
5. What’s one thing you love most about our school community?
The people! I love how everyone works together and supports one another. It really feels like a little family, and I’m so thankful to be part of a school where the teachers and staff genuinely care about the students and each other.
6. Is there a particular moment in the school year you look forward to each year?
I love the beginning of the school year when I get to meet our new students and start getting to know their little personalities. It’s so fun watching them go from being a little unsure on those first days to feeling comfortable, confident, and like they belong in our classroom.
7. Do you have any hobbies or hidden talents?
I love spending time with my family, decorating, and doing creative things. I also love anything involving crafts or making things cute! I’m definitely happiest when I can be creative.
8. What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you?
I’m a huge Stranger Things fan and I LOVE 80’s music
9. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I would love to go somewhere tropical with beautiful beaches and just relax with my family. A vacation where I don’t have to worry about schedules, cooking, cleaning, or anything else sounds pretty perfect!
10. What’s a food you can never say no to?
I can never turn down Mexican food! I could eat chips and cheese dip every day!
