This week's Staff Spotlight goes to Madison Dupree, Special Education Teacher!
1. What inspired you to pursue a career in education?
My mom was a kindergarten and first grade teacher and I wanted to be just like her! As I got older, I loved volunteering to work with kids at church and other events. I have always known I wanted to work with kids.
2. What’s your favorite part of working with students?
My favorite part of working with students is getting to know their unique personalities and watching them grow throughout the year. The difference between the beginning of the year and the end is truly amazing! Watching them learn and seeing their confidence grow is such a gift.
3. If you weren’t in education, what do you think you’d be doing?
If I wasn’t an educator, I would probably be a child or family therapist.
4. Do you have any professional goals you’re working on this year?
I am currently working on becoming a National Board Certified Teacher. It has been challenging but very rewarding!
5. What’s one thing you love most about our school community?
Our school community is the best! What stands out to me the most is the lasting relationships I have made at this school. The people I work with are like family to me and I love keeping up with former students and their families.
6. Is there a particular moment in the school year you look forward to each year?
I love the end of the school year for many reasons. Field Day and end of the year parties are some of my favorite moments because I love watching students just be kids and have fun!
7. Do you have any hobbies or hidden talents?
I like being active- working out, going on walks with my family, and playing pickleball are some of my favorite activities.
8. What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you?
People are usually surprised to find out I was homeschooled from kindergarten through 12th grade.
9. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I would love to go to Hawaii! I have always thought the scenery is beautiful there and I love the beach!
10. What’s a food you can never say no to?
I love breakfast food. I have never turned down Waffle House!
