little warrior news

The 2025–2026 school year is off to a strong start at Meadow View Elementary! Since welcoming students back in August, our halls have been filled with excitement, learning, and growth. Principal Amanda Harvie shared how proud she is of the Meadow View community and emphasized the importance of parents, teachers, and students working together to create a safe, nurturing, and academically challenging environment.

This fall, students across all grade levels have been hard at work while also making wonderful memories along the way.

Pre-K and Kindergarten

Our youngest learners are thriving! Pre-K students have been learning about colors, shapes, numbers, and community helpers. They’re also enjoying a fall theme centered around farms and farm animals, with field trips to the ACS Central Office for trick-or-treating and Penton Farms Pumpkin Patch.

Kindergarteners kicked off the year learning routines and kindness through fun, hands-on activities. Highlights included Apple Week, character lessons with Mr. Larry, and developing early literacy and math skills through engaging, multi-sensory lessons.

First and Second Grade

First grade has been busy exploring reading, writing, and math. Students have practiced letter sounds, storytelling, addition strategies, and even learned about the sky and earth in science. Their classrooms are full of teamwork, curiosity, and creativity.

Second grade students have worked hard on reading comprehension, writing opinion pieces, and mastering new math concepts. They’ve also explored states of matter in science and American history in social studies—all while showing great enthusiasm and teamwork!

Third Grade

Third grade is tackling new challenges with confidence. Students have been learning multiplication and division, strengthening reading comprehension, and writing strong paragraphs with clear structure and detail. Hands-on science lessons on forces and motion led up to a fun field trip to the McWane Science Center.

Specials and Programs

In addition to classroom learning, students have been shining in every part of campus life.

  • Music: Students have been singing, playing instruments, and learning about rhythm and melody. The Meadow View Singers are preparing for their Veterans Day performance on November 6.

  • Art: Classes have focused on creativity and technique, from cutting and painting in Kindergarten to studying artists like Jasper Johns and Henri Matisse in upper grades.

  • PE: Students have been practicing teamwork and fitness through active games. The Blue Cross Blue Shield Kids Marathon is coming up in February, and families are encouraged to join in.

  • STEAM Lab: Students have learned about teamwork and problem-solving with fun engineering and robotics challenges, including retelling stories using Dash robots and Indi cars.

  • Computer Lab: Students are building essential typing and digital literacy skills while exploring the Warrior Website.

  • Library: Classes visit weekly to explore new books and develop a love for reading. This quarter also included a fun “Bagels & Books” event for teachers.

Support and Enrichment

The school’s counseling team continues to promote kindness and positive behavior through the Kindness Crew and PATH curriculum. The reading and math coaches shared helpful ways families can support learning at home—whether through reading together, practicing math facts, or encouraging problem-solving.

Looking Ahead

The second quarter is filled with exciting events, including the Veterans Day Program, Thanksgiving lunches, field trips, and the holiday concert. As Meadow View continues its mission of preparing students for their future, the school remains grateful for the ongoing partnership between families, staff, and the community.
