Meadow View Elementary is proud to honor Mrs. Zulma Vargas as our Support Person of the Year! Mrs. Vargas serves as a kindergarten teacher assistant and brings a special mix of dedication, warmth, and heart to everything she does.
Zulma has worked in Alabaster City Schools for several years, serving both Creek View and Meadow View Elementary. When asked what drives her, she shared, “When I was young, I always said, ‘I want to be a lawyer or a teacher.’ And here I am—a teacher by profession and a lawyer at heart, a defender and protector of children and anyone who needs me.”
Her colleagues describe her as dependable, compassionate, and full of joy. She gives her whole heart to her students and her team, often going above and beyond to help wherever she’s needed. As a bilingual educator, Zulma plays an especially important role in helping communicate with Spanish-speaking families and students who are still learning English. Her ability to bridge language barriers helps every child and parent feel seen, included, and understood.
Zulma says her greatest goal is to “leave meaningful footprints behind” by touching the hearts of children. “I love to shine with my own light, to laugh, to help, and to be there when others need it most,” she shared. “I live life with passion and purpose, learning from every mistake along the way. I deeply love my family and my work, and I hope to be remembered for my kindness, my compassion, and a heart that always tried to make a difference.”
Her words and her actions both reflect the heart of Meadow View—caring deeply, serving others, and making a lasting impact. We are so grateful for Mrs. Vargas and the light she brings to our school each day. Congratulations, Zulma!
