MVES PTLA Team Launches "Path to Success" Kindergarten Outreach Project
At Meadow View Elementary, we believe that strong partnerships between families and schools are the foundation of student success. This year, our Parent Teacher Leadership Academy (PTLA) team brought that belief to life through their impactful project, Path to Success—an initiative focused on increasing visibility and participation in our kindergarten registration and tour.
PTLA is a leadership development program that empowers selected parents and teachers to grow as leaders in their school communities. A collaboration between the Tuscaloosa City and County School Systems, the University of Alabama’s Center for Community-Based Partnerships, and UA faculty from the Colleges of Education and Human Environmental Sciences, the academy focuses on equipping participants with tools to support academic achievement and enhance family-school engagement.

The Path to Success program provided families with essential information on kindergarten enrollment, upcoming events, and academic readiness tips for a smooth transition into elementary school. The team utilized various communication methods—social media, flyers, and videos—to distribute information throughout the community. A special video guide was created to walk families through the registration process, making it more accessible and user-friendly.
According to the presentation, the project aimed to "increase visibility and attendance of the Kindergarten Tour and registration in our community" while strengthening the parent-teacher relationship through informed and active participation. Their goal was to foster a school culture where families feel equipped and empowered to support their child's academic journey from day one.
We are incredibly proud of our PTLA representatives and grateful for their commitment to making Meadow View Elementary a place where every family has a voice and every child has a strong start. Their efforts not only raised awareness about kindergarten registration but also deepened the vital connection between our school and the families we serve.
