This week's Staff Spotlight goes to Beth Bearden, 3rd grade teacher!
1. What inspired you to pursue a career in education?
I’ve always had a great love for learning. Several teachers throughout my education inspired and encouraged me to follow my calling to become an educator.
2. What’s your favorite part of working with students?
My favorite part of working with students is building relationships. Relationships are the foundation of learning. If students feel they are loved, safe, and respected, the possibilities are endless.
3. If you weren’t in education, what do you think you’d be doing?
I would love to be an audiobook narrator, especially for children’s books. I’ve always been told I have a talent for accents, impersonations, and creating voices. I think it could be fun to put that talent to use.
4. Do you have any professional goals you’re working on this year?
I am working on my LETRS certification.
5. What’s one thing you love most about our school community?
Meadow View is a family. We celebrate and support each other. I can’t imagine working anywhere else.
6. Is there a particular moment in the school year you look forward to each year?
Warrior Day is one of my favorite days of the year. I love meeting my students for the first time and sharing with them what a great year we will have.
7. Do you have any hobbies or hidden talents?
My favorite things to do are spending time with my family and reading. I read at least two hours every night.
8. What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you?
I am fluent in French and I lived in France. I am also a huge fan of K-dramas.
9. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I would definitely go back to France to spend time with my friends and visit old and new places. Australia Zoo is a close second. I’ve always been a Steve Irwin fan. South Korea is also high on the list.
10. What’s a food you can never say no to?
My mom’s lasagna.
