1. What inspired you to pursue a career in education?

I loved school and I was blessed to have so many incredible teachers throughout my life. They impacted me and helped shape me into the person I am today. My love of learning was fostered inside of a classroom and I wanted to turn that around and be that person for someone else. I believe that teachers provide love, stability, and have the ability to change the world one child at a time! What an amazing thing to be a part of! This is my calling and my place to be a light in our world!

2. What’s your favorite part of working with students?

Building relationships and making meaningful connections with my students and their families is one of my favorite things about teaching. I teach Kindergarten and I am always in awe of the unbridled joy and enthusiasm that I see in my students everyday. They see the good in everything, they love without hesitation, and they are full of hilarious and insightful observations! The magical moments of watching things "click" and make sense in a child's brain is such a gift. Those "AHA!" moments never get old!

3. If you weren’t in education, what do you think you’d be doing?

This is a hard one! It's hard to imagine doing anything else! I would probably be a photographer or a writer. I would love to write my own children's book one day!

4. Do you have any professional goals you’re working on this year?

I am planning to start my master's degree in ESL! This community has a rich and multicultural population, and I would love to increase my knowledge of how to best serve all students with the skills and strategies acquired in that degree program. Don't worry! I am not ready to leave my classroom just yet, but if that time comes, I would love to have the option to move into an ESL teaching position.

5. What’s one thing you love most about our school community?

I love how safe and cherished the kids and their families feel when they are a part of our learning community. When you are a part of the Meadow View family, you are supported, nurtured, valued, and loved. That goes for its students and its teachers, and that is something special!

6. Is there a particular moment in the school year you look forward to each year?

I love Read Across America Week! From having guest readers, to teaching reading and math standards thematically, and bringing books and their characters to life with special snacks and crafts... It's just so much fun! That week is full of magical and memorable moments in my classroom!

7. Do you have any hobbies or hidden talents?

There's not much mystery about me, but I am an avid reader! I love to spend a cozy day curled up with a book!

8. What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you?

I grew up on a dairy farm right here in Shelby County! I had the most amazing childhood, filled with family, so many animals, and the freedom to explore and grow. We had endless adventures! I have also traveled to 9 countries and I have a long list of places I still want to visit!

9. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

I LOVE to travel and explore new places! I would love to see the Canadian Rockies, and visit Ireland, Scotland or Greece!

10. What’s a food you can never say no to?

I can never say no to a warm cookie with a glass of milk!
