Meadow View Elementary School has earned an impressive score of 96 on the 2023-2024 Alabama State Report Card, further solidifying its reputation as one of the state's top-performing schools. This marks the third year in a row that the school has achieved a remarkable score, with a consistent 96 in both 2021-2022 and 2023-2024, and a 94 in the previous year.
Principal Brakefield shared her excitement with staff in an email, expressing deep pride in the school's continued success. "I am overjoyed at our performance, and I hope you are equally as overjoyed because of your hard work!" she wrote. "Thank you for making this happen!"
The Alabama State Report Card takes a comprehensive approach to evaluating schools, measuring not only test scores but also academic growth, college and career readiness, and chronic absenteeism. MVES's high score reflects its strong performance across these various factors, setting it apart as a leader in academic achievement.
Dr. Eric Mackey, Alabama's State Superintendent of Education, commented on the overall success of schools across the state, noting that the 2023-2024 average state score reached 85, a notable increase from the previous year. "We really are seeing the fruits of our labors," Dr. Mackey said. "As we get the Numeracy Act in place and we get math coaches across the state in every school, I have no doubt that it is going to do the same thing as reading. It’s going to really begin to accelerate growth and achievement both."
MVES has been a consistent high performer in recent years, with the school earning a score of 96 for both the 2021-2022 and 2023-2024 academic years, and an 86 in the 2018-2019 school year. Notably, the report cards for 2019-2021 were not issued due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For students, teachers, and parents, this achievement represents more than just a score on paper—it reflects the dedication of the entire school community to fostering a culture of excellence.
As the state continues to focus on improving education through initiatives like the Numeracy Act and the expansion of math coaching, MVES is poised to remain a beacon of academic excellence in Alabama for years to come.
Congratulations to Meadow View Elementary School, its dedicated educators, and the entire school community on this well-deserved achievement!
