ALABASTER, Ala. — Thompson High School (THS) Athletics is excited to announce an expanded partnership with Baptist Health that will enhance sports medicine services in new and highly-specialized ways.
Under the enhanced agreement signed earlier this summer, Baptist Health will now serve as the primary service provider and partner delivering comprehensive sports medicine services on campus, including specialized athletic training, physical therapy, and team physician services for student-athletes, students, and staff - as well as the community at large.
"Same people, new partnership and enhanced resources", said Vincent Pitts, Director of Athletics for Thompson High School. "Our athletic trainers, physical therapists, and team physician are vitally important parts of our day-to-day operation. This newly expanded partnership maintains our important personnel under one roof, while enhancing the healthcare resources available to the Warriors."
Key Highlights of the Expanded Partnership:
Enhanced Sports Medicine Team: Addition of dedicated athletic training and physical therapy services operating alongside existing team physicians.
On-Campus Access: Streamlined care and rehabilitation services delivered directly at Thompson High School facilities.
Community Wellness Focus: Joint efforts toward wellness education and health outreach for students, faculty, and families in Alabaster.
Pitts noted the strong support and collaboration from Alabaster City Schools administrators, Superintendent Dr. Wayne Vickers and Assistant Superintendent/Thompson High School Principal Dr. Wesley Hester, and Baptist Health administrators.
"Our administrators have both been instrumental in helping pull this together," Pitts said. "We are pleased to grow our longstanding partnership with Baptist Health Shelby Hospital in Alabaster. This is a natural fit across all areas, ensuring our Warriors receive premier health care right here at home, supporting their performance and recovery both on and off the field."
In addition to direct clinical care, Baptist Health and Baptist Health Shelby are actively involved in community outreach and health education. The expanded collaboration between Thompson Athletics and Baptist Health will further support joint wellness initiatives and injury-prevention education across the broader Warrior community and Shelby County.
