ACS - Thompson High School recently honored the outstanding achievements of English Learner (EL) students during the annual ACCESS Awards Ceremony. Students were recognized for their progress in academic English across reading, writing, speaking, listening, and overall proficiency. Test data from the ACCESS assessment, administered each spring, determined the honors.
Specific student honors included:
Highest score in each area
Most overall growth
Meeting growth targets
Achieving the score needed to exit the EL program
District and school leaders made the celebration possible, including Dr. Wesley Hester, Mrs. Amanda Rodriguez, Dr. Amanda Wilbanks, Dr. Kristen Westwood, and Dr. Brent Byars. Thompson’s ESL teachers, Dr. Ashley Riner and Mr. Cesar Rivas, played instrumental roles in organizing the event and guiding students toward success.
