STUDENTS ON GRASSY FIELD JUMPING JUBILANTLY IN AIR

ACS — Alabaster City Schools has jumped four spots to rank #5 among the "Best School Districts in Alabama," according to Niche's latest annual rankings.

The district climbed into the top five out of 141 public school systems statewide while maintaining its position as the top district in Shelby County and the third best in the Birmingham metropolitan area. Every school within the Alabaster system also improved its individual ranking over the past year.

This ranking is particularly notable given that Alabaster serves a significantly more diverse and economically varied student population than many other top-ranked districts.

"Achieving the status of fifth Best School District in Alabama should not be underestimated," Superintendent Dr. Wayne Vickers said. "The academic resources we’ve invested in are paying off and continue to drive student achievement."

Vickers attributed the progress to key district investments, including dedicated reading and math coaches, state-of-the-art classroom technology, and intensive professional development for educators.

The updated Niche honors align with recent state assessment results released earlier this year. In those evaluations, Alabaster City Schools ranked 16th statewide and fourth in the Birmingham metro area for third-grade reading scores.

"I’m incredibly proud of our students, faculty, staff, curriculum and instruction team, administrators, and community for this continued success in the classroom and beyond," Vickers said. "We are truly realizing our motto of 'Champions of Our Future!'"
