ACS - During this week’s Thompson High School Senior Preview Night, Mrs. Pam Vickers was surprised with a special presentation honoring her 13 years of dedicated service as the school’s Senior Sponsor and College Counselor.
Throughout this time, Mrs. Vickers has been a trusted guide for more than 6,000 Thompson seniors and their families, helping students navigate college applications, scholarships, military opportunities, and the many important decisions that come with life after high school. She also revived, elevated, or altogether created events for seniors that will forever be a part of Thompson tradition.
Those events include the Senior Breakfast, the Parade of Graduates, and Honors Night - just to name a few.
“We have a very supportive community, administration, and board of education. They’ve allowed us to bring many things to Alabaster and create traditions for our students that will endure. I am super proud of that," Mrs. Vickers said.
Dr. Wesley Hester, ACS Assistant Superintendent for Administration and THS Principal, made the surprise announcement honoring Mrs. Vickers.
"All that she has brought to Thompson High School and Alabaster City Schools, she has always done so in such a detailed, meticulous fashion. You will not find another school where every participating senior is made to feel so special and appreciated," Hester said. "It's not just her years and the number of students. It's the level of experience that our seniors have felt and been a part of during Mrs. Vickers’ time as Senior Sponsor."
As she steps aside from the Senior Sponsor role, Mrs. Vickers will continue to serve Thompson High School as College Counselor. Ms. Katie Cardwell and Mr. Brad Boy will take on the role of Senior Sponsors.
