Alabaster City Schools celebrated a major milestone with the first-ever ACS Champions Craft Academy Signing Day, as 32 seniors officially signed with contractors from across Alabama and secured full-time employment following graduation.
The event marked the successful completion of the Craft Academy’s inaugural year, highlighting the program’s immediate impact in preparing students for careers in the skilled trades. Created to provide students with hands-on training and real-world experience, the ACS Champions Craft Academy equips graduates with the skills needed to enter high-demand fields and begin successful careers right after high school.
During the ceremony, students were recognized for their dedication and achievements throughout the year. The academy also announced its inaugural Champions of the Year for each trade pathway, honoring one outstanding student in welding, electrical, and construction for excellence in skill development, leadership, and commitment to their craft.
Adding to the celebration, Klein Tools presented each Champion of the Year with professional-grade tools specific to their trade, providing them with valuable resources as they begin their careers.
Dr. Vickers was also recognized during the event and presented with the Champion of the Year belt buckle in honor of his leadership and support in launching the program.
The signing day represented more than just a ceremony. It was a celebration of opportunity, hard work, and the bright future ahead for these students.
In just its first year, the ACS Champions Craft Academy has already demonstrated tremendous success, creating direct pathways from the classroom to the workforce and reinforcing Alabaster City Schools’ commitment to preparing students for success beyond graduation.
