Alabaster City Schools is proud to announce that every campus in the district has earned a perfect score of 100 on its most recent Health Inspection.This accomplishment points to the dedication and professionalism of the ACS Child Nutrition staff.
ACS Child Nutrition Director, Heather McDermott, credits the success to her team’s focus on safety and sanitation principles.
“A dedication to cleanliness is crucial for building customer trust. We work to ensure food safety as customers link visible cleanliness to kitchen hygiene and overall quality. Our child nutrition staff takes pride in preparing and serving students great quality food in clean environments. Our staff members have strict cleaning and sanitation protocols to create a safe and welcoming environment,” McDermott said.
Health Inspections evaluate critical food safety practices, sanitation standards, and facility cleanliness. Achieving a perfect score across all schools showcases a district-wide commitment to operational excellence and student well-being.
The Alabaster City Schools Child Nutrition Program comprises 57 team members who prepare and serve meals across all our campuses. Staff are assigned to each campus as follows:
- ACS Central Office: 3
- Creek View Elementary (CVES): 8
- Meadow View Elementary (MVES): 8
- Thompson Intermediate (TIS): 9
- Thompson Middle School (TMS): 13
- Thompson High School (THS): 16
With more than 6,000 students served daily, the Child Nutrition team plays an important role in supporting both student health and academic success.
