ACS - The Champions Craft Academy (CCA) at Alabaster City Schools has been recognized as a Regional Best Practice in Work-Based Learning by the Alabama Office of Apprenticeship, highlighting the district’s growing reputation for innovative workforce development programs.

CCA Transition Specialist Jayden Kidd and the academy team received the honor Wednesday during a ceremony at Jefferson State Community College. The award acknowledges standout programs across the state that prepare students for real-world success through hands-on learning and strong partnerships with local industries.

As a regional winner, Kidd and the Champions Craft Academy will advance as contenders for the Alabama Seal of Excellence in Work-Based Learning, to be presented at the statewide summit in Birmingham next spring.

Career Coaches Katie Cardwell and Morgan Levering joined Kidd at the presentation, representing a team district leaders say exemplifies dedication to student opportunity and career readiness.

“We are incredibly proud of the hard work, leadership, and vision that continue to make Alabaster City Schools a model for workforce development and student success,” the district said in a statement.

The Champions Craft Academy provides students with pathways into skilled trades, professional certifications, and employment opportunities through experiential learning and ongoing collaboration with industry partners.
