French National Honor Society
Sponsor: Vicky Adams
The Thompson High School chapter for the National French Honor Society received its charter on March 1, 1996.
The requirements for becoming a member are that the student must have an "A" average for the first 3 semesters in French (I and II), and all other classes must not have an average below a "B". A student is eligible for induction in the spring semester of his/her second year of French. At graduation, each member wears an honor cord that is bleu, blanc, and rouge (blue, white and red), which represents the colors of the French flag.
The F.H.S. sponsors a yearly compatibility survey, which usually corresponds with Valentine's Day. The proceeds from this help defray the cost of the induction ceremony and pay for membership dues. In the past, members have gone to see Broadway plays such as Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables and to the Birmingham Museum of Art to see the "Maitieres de Reves" exhibition.
