Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech Pathology/ Audiology Bachelor of Science Degree in Education of the Deaf/ HH
During my early high school years, I was introduced to the field of Audiology and knew this would be my career. After graduation, I attended the University of South Alabama where I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Audiology and Speech Pathology. One week after graduation, my husband and I moved to the Birmingham area. After settling in, I visited the University of Montevallo to persue a Masters in Audiology. While there, I noticed classes for obtaining a degree in education for students with a hearing loss. Two years later, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education of the Deaf/ Hard-of-Hearing. I was employed with Homewood City Schools for six years before teaching here in Alabaster. This will be my fourth year with ACS. I love working with students who have any degree of hearing loss and helping them achieve their goals. My job title has many forms; Teacher for the Hearing-Impaired, Teacher for the Deaf/ HH, Deaf Education Teacher, Hearing Specialist. No matter which title you use, it is a priviledge and blessing to work with each of my students.
My husband and I have been married for 27 years and live in Helena. We have two children, a twelve-year-old girl and ten-year-old boy.
