Matthew Scoggins
  • My name is Matthew Scoggins and I was born and raised in Alabaster, Alabama. I am a proud graduate of Thompson High School, GO WARRIORS! After high school I attended the University of Alabama-Birimingham where I acquired a Bachelors degree in Secondary Educations and Mathematics as well as a Master's Degree in Mathematics. This will be my first year in the Alabaster City School system as an educator and I am looking forward to teaching at Thompson Middle School.

I will be coaching football for the 8th Grade TMS team, as well as indoor/outdoor track. I have previous coaching experience through volunteering for the Thompson High School football team from 2012-2014 and the Mortimer Jordan High School football team in 2015. Aside from coaching, football is a big hobby of mine to keep up with. I am a huge Auburn fan for the collegiate level (WAR EAGLE!) and a Green Bay Packers fan for the professional level.

In my free time I enjoy being outdoors playing disc golf with family and friends. Every year a few family members and close friends take a trip to a new destination to explore the disc golf courses in that area. This past summer we explored courses around the Nashville area. Our goal is to continue this endeavor and explore the disc golf courses that are out there one state at a time. Other things I enjoy are hunting, fishing, and traveling.
