My Name is Jenilee Powell. I am a Health Science teacher. I was raised in south Alabama in a small town, Jackson, AL. After graduating high school, I moved to Tuscaloosa,AL and attended college at The University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE) graduating in 2007 with my Bachelor's of science in nursing. I have been working as a registered nurse for 12 years. My nursing background includes intensive care, surgery, pre and post op, GI lab and clinic work. I glad to be teaching at THS in Health Science and Biomedical Science and sharing my nursing experiences and my knowledge of health care with students interested in pursuing a career in this field. I am also a Project Outreach advisor. This service club was created to help build relationships of students with disabilities and their nondisabled peers for the better of them both.
I am married to the Head Men's basketball coach/PE teacher, Dru Powell and we have 3 children, Dane (9), Parker (8) and Livi Caroline Powell (3). We also have a 4 year old goldendoodle, Piper. They are my life, and I am so thankful for them. When I am not taking my kids to their activities, I can be found in the Warrior Arena. Coaching is truly a family affair for us. My children enjoy rooting on their Warriors in all sporting events. My husband and I are co-founders, partnering with Project Outreach Gulf Coast, of a state wide basketball autism awareness event , Shooting 2 Change. We started this event to help bring awareness, understanding and acceptance to autism in honor of our middle child, Parker. We have enjoyed becoming a part of the Alabaster Community and look forward to a great school year. Go warriors!
