• Ms. Vick

It’s a GREAT day to be a warrior! Let me introduce myself. My name is Maegan Vick, and I am your new counselor! In 2008, I graduated from the University of Montevallo with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education. That same year, I was hired at Thompson Intermediate School as a special education teacher. That being said, I feel like I am back to my original home!

In 2010, I achieved my M.Ed. in School Counseling and was hired as a counselor at Helena Elementary School where I worked for several years. In 2015, I earned my LPC which means I am a licensed professional counselor and can provide private practice counseling services. In 2016, I moved to Auburn to pursue my Ph.D. in Counselor Education at Auburn University. While living in Auburn, I worked as a counselor at Carey Woods Elementary and Auburn High School. I still have a few classes and dissertation left to complete but should graduate with my Ph.D. in 2019.

I want you to know I am passionate about helping students to achieve academic, social/emotional, and behavioral success. I know that a great deal rests on the shoulders of parents, teachers and other staff members when it comes to helping students to achieve their fullest potential. Let me assure you, I am here to help take some of that heavy load off your shoulders!

Part of my role as a counselor is to offer individual and/or small group counseling services to students. You may be wondering, “How do I know if I need to refer my child for counseling services?” Some topics parents or teachers refer students for include but are not limited to self-esteem, grief, family transitions, behavior concerns, anxiety, stress or other related topics. You can email me at maegan.vick@acsboe.org or call me at 205-685-9611. I look forward to meeting you and getting to know your child.

    Maegan Vick, M.Ed. NCC, LPC
