Education and Philosophy:

My journey in the education field began in 1992, where I attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham and received a Bachelors of Arts degree in History. I then decided to further my education and attended Samford University, where I also received my Masters of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. I was initiated into Kappa Delta Pi, an honor Society in Education, in April 2000 at Samford University.

My philosophy as a teacher, is that teachers and students are lifelong learners, and together we can learn so much that education has to offer. The role of the teacher is to motivate, encourage, support and engage students in the lessons. I want my students to be challenged in order for them to recognize their full academic potential because students are motivated by their own success. School is a place where students should feel safe and can learn about academics, themselves and the world around them. It is my job as a teacher to motivate students to be all they can be.

For 16 years I taught Second Grade at Meadow View Elementary. This is my third year teaching sixth graders at Thompson Middle School.  It's exciting teaching at TMS and working with the wonderful staff. I absolutely love being a teacher and working with children. I truly enjoy working for the Alabaster School system!

I was born and raised in Tuscaloosa AL. I graduated from Central High School of Tuscaloosa in 1992. I then moved to Birmingham to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After graduating from UAB, I met and married my awesome husband and best friend Paul. After we got married, I then decided to pursue my Masters of Science degree from Samford University. Paul and I have two wonderful sons, Paul Jr. and Joshua. I enjoy spending time with my family. We love to travel to many places and also serve in our ministry at Greater Faith Christian Church.
