Mrs. Beverly Brister
Hello, my name is Beverly Brister and I am an Inclusion/Academic Enhancement teacher at Thompson High School. The 2018-2019 school year will be my 37th year teaching and my third year back at Thompson High School. My husband and I lived in Alabaster for 9 years where I taught at Thompson High School before moving to Tupelo, Mississippi. We have moved back to Alabama and I have been very blessed to again teach at Thompson High School. My husband of 39 years, Steve, and I have two wonderful sons. Jim and his wife Megan live in Denver, Colorado. Jim is an Landscape Architect for a landscape firm and Megan is a registered dietition for the VA Hospital. Our youngest son Scott lives in Atlanta, Georgia and is in technical sales selling management software to banks.
I received a Bachelors of Science degree in Special Education from Mississippi State University in 1979 and a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction- Special Education from the University of Mississippi in 2007. I also received National Board Certification in 2004 and renewed my certification in 2014. For the past 10 years I have had the opportunity to mentor candidates pursuing National Board Certification. I have mentored some great teachers who have become National Board Certified. When I'm not teaching. I enjoy traveling, reading, and spending time with my family. We are so happy to be back in Alabama and I am very happy to be back at Thompson High School. I am looking forward to another great school year.
