Hello, my name is Beverly Brister and I am an Inclusion/Academic Enhancement teacher at Thompson High School. The 2021-2022 school year will be my 40th year teaching and my sixth year back at Thompson High School. My husband and I lived in Alabaster for 9 years where I taught at Thompson High School before moving to Tupelo, Mississippi. We have moved back to Alabama and I have been very blessed to again teach at Thompson High School. My husband of 42 years, Steve, and I have two wonderful sons. Jim and his wife Megan live in Denver, Colorado. Jim is a Landscape Architect for a landscape firm and Megan is a registered dietitian for the VA Hospital. This year our sweet grandson, James, celebrated his second birthday!! Our youngest son Scott lives in Atlanta, Georgia and is in technical sales selling management software to banks.
I received a Bachelors of Science degree in Special Education from Mississippi State University in 1979 and a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction- Special Education from the University of Mississippi in 2007. I also received National Board Certification in 2004 and renewed my certification in 2014. For the past 13 years I have had the opportunity to mentor candidates pursuing National Board Certification. I have mentored some great teachers who have become National Board Certified. When I'm not teaching. I enjoy traveling, reading, and spending time with my family. We are so happy to be back in Alabama and I am very happy to be back at Thompson High School. I am looking forward to another great school year.
