Degrees and Certifications:
Magna Cum Laude in Secondary Education and English Language Arts
Ms. Erin Taliaferro
This will be my fourth year working for Alabaster City Schools. I am a graduate of The University of Alabama, and have lived in Alabama my whole life, growing up just down the street from the Alabaster area in Hoover, AL, and attending Oak Mountain High School. When I first attended college, I had the goal of a degree in Criminal Justice, and didn't change my major until sophomore year. After some soul-searching and evaluation of what was truly important to me, I decided that teaching and molding young minds was where my heart was, and haven't regretted it since. Naturally, I moved back to the greatest state and greatest area to make my goals become reality, and am ready to receive the best students around!
Three words that would describe me are passionate, motivated, and adventurous. I am passionate about all the things an emerging English teacher would be passionate about: student success in learning and lots and lots of books! In addition, my passions include Alabama football, movies, music, my faith, the outdoors, traveling, and writing. Motivation ensues my passions; I strive to think, speak, and act in a way that reflects and commemorates them. My goal is for my students to find what they are passionate about and dedicate themselves to it; putting their best self forward each and every day so they can positively impact their community and the people within it. I have 2 mottos in the classroom: "Speak words of life" and "be the best version of yourself". I think both of these ideas are important for students to both encapsulate who they envision themselves to be, while also fostering a healthy learning community both in and beyond the classroom.
I teach 11th grade English and AP Language. I am the girls' tennis coach, and an assistant cheerleading coach. Let's make it a great year and keep it Warrior Strong!
