Education
I was born and raised in Alabama and I am a graduate of Shelby County High School.
I attended The University of North Alabama in the fall of 2007 on an auxiliary (majorette) scholarship with The Pride of Dixie Marching Band. I studied abroad in Costa Rica at Centro Panamerico de Idiomas (CPI-Heredia) in 2011. I graduated the following May with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and Secondary Education with an emphasis in English as a Second Language. In Spring 2019, I graduated once again from The University of North Alabama with my Master's Degree in Family Studies. I immediately began on my final degree; Doctorate of Education in Curriculum and Teaching from Northcentral University.
Experience
This fall will begin my tenth year teaching Spanish. Previously, I taught Spanish and English as a Second Language at Montevallo High School. I have worked with many age groups. During my internship at UNA, I worked closely with Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, Second Grade, and High School students in Florence, Alabama.
Bio
¡Hola a todos!
My name is McKenzie Britnell Wayman. I grew up in Columbiana, Alabama and attended Shelby County High School. Therefore, I'm no stranger to the Alabaster area. I attended college at The University of North Alabama and was thrilled to come "back home" when I was hired at Montevallo High School ten years ago. I'm very excited to continue teaching this year as a Warrior! I have been married to my best friend (a Thompson High Graduate) for seven years. We have a little girl, two rambunctious Weimaraner dogs, and live in the Alabaster community.
