    Monday 3-13-20 Today the bell ringer was to finsh chapter 7 vocab and 7.1 handout from last week (see calendar tab).  We then read 7.2 and 7.3.  We completed the 7.2 & 7.3 handout.  We also completed the Map on Mexico, Central America, and Caribbean Map.  We will then review chapter 7 vocab.

    Friday 3-13-20 Today the bell ringer was to finish the chapter 7 vocab activity from yesterday.  We then watched some of the following national geographic video clip on Mexico:

    Thursday 3-12-20 Today students came in and stuided before their chapter 6 test on Canada.  They then turned in their chapter 6 essay questions and all the work from chapter 6 that they stapled together.  Students then took the chapter 6 test.  After the test, students worked on chapter 7 vocab.

    Wednesday 3-11-20  Today students will come in and silently study for the chapter 6 vocab quiz.  While they are studying they will be given their ch 6 essay question and Canada map.  Students will then take the chapter 6 vocab quiz.  Students then label the map, all 10 Canadian provinces wil be on the Test tomorrow. Students will then finish their study guides before we go over them.  Students will then be given time to  complete the chapter 6 essay questions.  Tomorrow, students will staple and turn in all work from chapter 6 for a grade (ch 6 vocab, 6.1 handout, 6.2 handout, 6.3 handout, ch 6 study guide, and the map of Canada, all of which are below) Homwork tonight will be to study for Thursday's test on chapter 6.

    Tuesday 3-10-20 Today we had students take the Scantron Express for Reading in all 7th grade social studies classes.  If they did not finsh, they will be able to finish at a later time (the counselors will pull them out of class to finish it).  Students were given teh chapter 6 study guide to work on after the Scantron testing.  Homework is to study for tomorrow's chapter 6 vocab quiz, and to work on the chapter 6 study guide.

    Today in geography, the bell ringer was to copy the weekly agenda (see calendar tab).  We then finshed the chapter 6 vocab, the 6.1 handout, and 6.2 handout.  We then watched a few minutes of a video clip on Canada facts.

    We then read 6.3 and answered the 6.3 handout.  All of the work from chapter 6 is listd bellow.  We went over 3rd 9 weeks geography grades. Homework is to start to study ch 6 vocab.

    Friday 3-6-20  No school today,  Teacher work day

    Thursday 3-5-20 Today is the last day of the 9 weeks and this is the last day to turn in work or re-take tests or do any other make-ups.  The bell ringer was to silently study for test re-takes, make-up exams, make-up quizzes, and to finsh any other make up work.  We then gave students a chance to do make-ups and test re-takes.  students then read through 6.2 and completed the 6.2 handout.  We then watched a video clip on the history of Canada.  Our chapter 6 vocab quiz will be on Tuesday next week. 

    4th period did an extra assignment today: they wrote 3 well written paragraphs on the history of Canada (15 sentences minimum) and turned it in today for a grade.  There is no school tomorrow.  Grades will be finalized and posted today.

    Wednesday 3-4-20 Today the bell ringer is to silently study for the exam.  Students then took the 3rd 9 weeks civics exam.  After the exam students were given an opportunity to work on make up work or test re-takes.  Homework is to study for test re-takes and complete all make up work as tomorrow is the last day to turn in any work or re-do any assignments.

    Tuesday 3-3-20 Today the bell ringer was to silently study the 3rd 9 weeks exam study guide.  We then finished going over the 3rd 9 weeks exam study guide.  Students were then given a printout of all thier grades so they can see if they are missing anything.  Students are allowed to make up tests and quizzes they have not taken yet on Wednesday and Thursday (warrior time or in class).  If a student scored below a 60% on one of thier tests, they can re-take that as well.  Students will not be allowed to re-take quizzes that they scored low on.  All study guide, essay questions, and missing work is located on this page if you scroll down to the date it was assigned.  Homework tonight is to study for tomorrow's 3rd 9 week civics exam and to bring a pencil to take it with as it is on a scantron and to be completing make up work.

    Wednesday 2-26-20 Mr. Ray was out with sick kids today.  Today the bell ringer was to copy and answer the following 2 questions from page 144-145:

    17. What is the provincial capital of Manitoba?

    18. What do you thinkn the climate is like in the Yukon Territory? Why?

    Students then finshed ch 6 vocab from yesterday and they then read 6.1 (p. 146-149). Students then worked on 6.1 handout.  They then reviewed the U.S. states.  Homwork is to study for tomorrow's map quiz.

    Tuesday 2-25-20 Today the bell ringer was to silently study before the chapter 5 Test.  Students then were given the chapter 6 vocab to complete after the test.  Students then took the chapter 5 test.  Students then finished and turned in chapter 5 essay question if they did not already.  Students then started chapter 6 vocab activity.  Students may want to start to study for Thursday's map quiz on the states.

    On Thursday, we will have a U.S. Map quiz where students will be given a map with states labeled 1-50,  The states will have their capitals written on them as well.  It will be chunked into 5 sections with 10 states to choose from in each section.  The will match the correct name of the state with the number on the map.

    Monday 2-24-20 Today the bell ringer was to copy the weekly agenda (See calendar tab of this website).  Students then were supposed to look at the maps on page 131 and copy and answer the following 2 bell ringer questions:

    Friday 2-21-20 Today the bell ringer was to copy and answer the 2 questions from the map on page 136.

    Thursday 2-13-20 Bell ringer is to study before the quiz. Students then took the 40 country map quiz. After the the quiz, students completed their ch 5 vocab, 5.1 handout, and read 5.2 and started 5.2 handout.  We will finish 5.2 tomorrow in class.

    Tuesday 2-11-20 Today due to the delay start, we moved the chapter 4 test back to tomorrow.  I was worried all classes would not have a chance to finish it with shorter class times.  Students came in and studied for thier test, we went back over the answers to the chapter 4 study guide.  Students were given a chance to finsh and turn in ch 4 essay question.  They were then given chapter 5 vocab to start if they were done with everything else.

    Thursday 2-6-20 Today we were on a 2 hour delay schedule.  Students were given a chance to finish all work from chapter 4.  We then disucssed the current weather that came through last night.  We read through chapter 4 section 4.  Students were given a Map activity to use to study for the 2 map quizzes next week.  On Monday, we have a quiz on the continents and oceans.  On Thursday we have a quiz on the 40 countries that  were listed on the map, It will be broken into 4 answer boxes, where studnets will choose from the Americas, Europe, Asia, and then Africa.

    Students will then be givne the chapter 3 essay question to work on. While students are working on the essay question they will bring thier ch 3 study guides to Mr. Ray to grade them.  Once all study guides have been graded, we will go over the correct answers and review for tomorrow's test.  We went over the potential documents that may be on the test as well as some possible questions. Homework is to study tor tomorrow's test and finish the essay questions.

    Wednesday 12-18-19 Today the bell ringer was to sit quietly and study for test re-takes and make up quizzes.  Students were then given a chance to re-take tests and make up quizzes.  All students were given printouts of their grades so they could see anything they needed to re-do or turn in.  I also told students they can turn in all make up work tomorrow morning if they still have not turned it in.  I will be one of the teachers staying back from the talent show tomorrow, so they can come to me and finish any re-takes or make up work at that time (last chance to improve grade).  All grades have been enterd into i-now and grades will be finalized tomorrow afternoon.

    Tuesday 12-17-19 Today the bell ringer was to silently study before the exam.  Students then took the 2nd 9 weeks exam.  After the exam, students studied for test re-takes and were given a chance to finish make up work.  Homework is to study for tomorrow's in class test re-takes and opportunity to make up any missed quizzes.  If you were absent and missed the exam, you will take it when you return to school.  If you are sick all week, you will just take the exam in January when you return to school.  All work that has been turned in has been graded and entered into i-now, check you grades and turn in any work you need to, or study for test re-takes!!!!!!  

    Monday 12-16-19 Today the bell ringer was to finish the 9 week exam study guide.  Students who were absent Friday made up the bell ringer quiz.  We then checked the exam study guide.  All the questions on the study guide were from previous study guides.  The exam is a review of everything we have done the 2nd 9 weeks.  We then started to go over the test review powerpoint.  Homeowork is to study for tomorrow's civics exam!!!  Also, make up work, make up tests, make up quizzes, and test re-takes must be turned in or completed by Wednesday (you can come to warrior time if you need to).

    I know a lot of studens have been sick lately, if you miss the exam, you will just take it when you get back to school, even if that means you miss the rest of the week, you will take it in January when you return to school.

    Tuesday 11-19-18 Today the bell ringer was to silently study chapter 10 vocab.  The terms and definitions were displayed on the board.  We then had students take the chapter 10 vocab quiz.  After the quiz, students worked on finishing the finance project.  The car websited we normally use to complete this project are now blocked, so we had to use some local car dealership websites to find our cars.  When students finshed the project they turned it in.  Students who did not finish the project today in class need to finish it for homework and turn it in tomorrow as the start of class.

    Friday 11-15-19 Today the bell ringer was to get out the project and sit quietly.  We then finished the first part of the finance project.  We then gave students chrome books and the rented an apartment today as part of their project and wrote a check for the rent.  We will continue to work on the project on Monday.

    Tuesday 10-1-19 Today the bell ringer was to study before the chapter 6 vocab quiz and test re-takes.  Students then took the chapter 6 vocab quiz and then they took their test re-takes.  Students then were supposed to work on the chapter 6 review questions.  Remember, Thursday students take the chapter 6 test and then on Friday they will complete the bell ringer quiz.

    Monday 9-30-19 Today the bell ringer was to Copy the weekly agenda for the next 2 weeks (see calendar tab), then read page 163 and copy and answer the following 2 questions

    Students were then given a chance to finish the ch 6 vocab and 6.1 guided reading.  We then checked 6.1.  We then took notes on 6.2.  We also gave students a print out of current grades.  I highlighetd it so they could see what test they needed to re-take on Tuesday and any make up work that needed to be turned in.

    We then gave students a chance to do make test corrections to the chapter 5 test to improve their scores.  Students then finished the chapter 6 vocab and then read chapter 6 section 1.  Students then complete dthe 6.1 gudied reading.  If you did not turn in the paragraph on How a bill becomes a law, you have a zero on that until you turn it in.

    Tuesday 9-24-19 Today students came in and silently studied for their test.  Students then took the chapter 5 test.  After the test, students started the chapter 6 vocab activity.  We went then went over chapter 5 test scores (if time allowed).  Next Tuesday(10-10-19), students will be allowed to re-take 1 test in class that they have scored the lowest on.  The test scores for the chapter 5 test today were not great, so we will allow students to look back over their tests tomorrow to earn back points.

We went over study guide questions 28-39 today in class.     6. What were some of the weaknesses of the national government under the Articles of Confederation? Possible answer: There was no executive branch to ensure that the laws passed by Congress were carried out.  There were no national courts to interpret laws or judge people who broke the laws.  Congress could not raise money to pay for the country's debts or carry out government activities.

    Friday 9-16-19 Today the bell ringer was to copy and answer the following question from the Learning English box on page 20.

    4. What might be the advantages and disadvantages of both bilingual and immersion programs? Bilingual programs make sure students learn various subjects, but they may learn English slower.  Students might learn English faster in immersion classes but could fall behind in other subjects.

    Thursday 8-15-19 Today the bell ringer was to silently study ch 1 vocab and look over all classwork for the comprehension quiz (ch 1 vocab terms and definitions were shown on the smart board at the front of the class during this time).  We then took the chapter 1 vocab and comprehension quiz.  After the quiz students worked ont he cahpter 2 vocabualry handout.  I did the first one on the board to show students as an example on how to complete it.  We will finish ch 2 vocab in class later.

    2. What role did religion play in the arrival of early American colonists?  Many early colonists came to America to escape religious persecution in their home countries.

    3. Why do you think some colonial settlements were successful in supporting religious liberty while others were not?  Possible answer: some colonists wished to establish their own religions, while others hoped to avoid the intolerance of the places they had fled.
