I am originally from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. My parents were both college professors at the University of Southern Mississippi. There are many educators in my family including counselors, high school teachers, librarians, and a superintendent. Education was a natural fit for me because I wanted to use my creativity and love for reading in my occupation.
My husband and I are college sweethearts. We met at the University of Alabama, and our first date was the 2000 Iron Bowl. We have a two sons named Mac and Fred, and a cat named Patches. My hobbies are Alabama football, reading, cooking, and running.
My first teaching experience was ninth and tenth grade at Henry County High School in McDonough, Georgia. I loved Henry County and stayed for two years. My husband finished law school at the University of Alabama and was employed at a law firm in Birmingham. I moved to Birmingham and started at Thompson Middle School in 2005. I am currently teaching 8th grade English. My classroom teaching experience includes teaching Advanced English, Career Prep, Debate, English Second Language, Regular English, and Inclusion classes.
