Mrs. Hollie Connell
My name is Hollie Connell. I am 35 years old and live in Chilton County. I am married and have one daughter, one son, and several pets.
I knew from an early age that I wanted to teach and work with children. I started babysitting relatives when I was 12 years old. At the age of 15, I began working at the YMCA summer camp as a certified lifeguard and child care provider. At the age of 16, I began teaching Sunday School for young children at Lime Springs United Methodist Church. After graduating high school, I began working at Children's Corner Learning Center in Clanton where I cared for children of all ages. I mainly worked with toddlers at the age of 2. I worked at Children's Corner Learning Center for two years before starting college at Auburn University of Montgomery in 2005.
I graduated with honors from Auburn University of Montgomery in May 2009 with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. I am an active member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. I was inducted into this society for academic excellence while attending AUM.
The summer after I graduated, I was offered my first teaching position. I taught third grade for three years in Chilton County. During my first year of teaching, I returned to Auburn University of Montgomery to pursue my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education. I graduated with my Master's Degree in December of 2011.
In May 2012, I left the Chilton County School System and began teaching for the Specialized Programming for Achievement Network in Selma, AL. I taught there from September 2012 to July 2013. This is a program to provide educational assistance to at - risk youth. The students that attended our program were court ordered and supervised by an assigned probation officer. I worked with students to complete credit recovery so they were able to return to public school, or I helped students prepare for the GED.
In the summer of 2013, I was hired as a second grade teacher at Meadow View Elementary. This is my eighth year teaching 2nd Grade at Meadow View Elementary and my twelth year teaching overall. I absolutely love Meadow View and the Alabaster City School System. I hope to have many more years teaching for such an outstanding school system. I am proud to be a WARRIOR!!
I have a love and a passion for teaching and working with ALL children. In my classroom, I have two main goals that I focus on daily. My first goal is to create lifelong learners that are intrinsically motivated to learn. My second goal is to ensure that ALL students feel loved and are able to learn in a classroom setting that meets their individual social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs. If you would like to know more about myself or my experience teaching, please feel free to contact me by email.
