Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Frances Reynolds
I graduated from Germantown High School in 1980. I then went to the University of Memphis and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education in 1984. I began teaching in 1985 and did not go back to school to get my Masters until many years later. I went to graduate school at the University of Montevallo and graduated with my Masters degree in Early Childhood Education in 2008.
I began teaching in 1985. I have taught at four schools; Capleville Elementary in Memphis, Tennessee, Plew Elementary in Niceville, Florida, Thompson Elementary in Alabaster, Alabama, and Meadow View Elementary, in Alabaster, Alabama. I have taught, kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and fourth grade. I was a Primary Reading Specialist in Niceville, Florida where I took part in Project Child in which I taught reading to a kindergarten, first grade, and second grade class. As the kindergarten children moved on to first grade, I remained their reading teaching. The same applied to the first grade students as they moved on to second grade. Several years ago, Jennifer Minner and I decided to team teach where which I would teach the Reading, Language Arts, and Social Studies and she would teach Math and Science. This works very well for us.
I come from a rather large family. I was born and spent my elementary years in Maryville, Tennessee. From here I have very fond memories of growing up and spending time with my two brothers and three sisters. We moved to Memphis, Tennessee with I was in middle school. It was here that I attended Germantown Junior High, Germantown High School, and the University of Memphis. I began teaching in 1985 at Capleville Elementary in Memphis but then moved two years later to Destin, Florida and began teaching at Plew Elementary. I moved to Birmingham with my two children in 1995 and eventually began teaching at Thompson Elementary and then Meadow View.
I am married to a very sweet man, Keith. He helps in any way that I need. I know that I am blessed to have him as my husband. I have two wonderful children, Rod and Erin. They both graduated with a Math degree from the University of Alabama in May of 2013. They continued on to receive their Masters in Education and graduated in 2014. Rod and Erin now live in Atlanta and are both high school math teachers. This makes their Mama very proud!
I have two small dogs. Winslow is a Jack Russell terrier. Penny is a miniature long hair/short hair mix dachshund. These dogs bring me great joy lots of laughter and smiles.
I love to spend time with my family and escape to the beach as often as I can. I love teaching kindergarten and truly believe that this is the reason that God put me on this Earth... To teach young children.
