Who is Ms. Dillon?
I have been teaching at TMS for 27 years. I’ve lived in Alabaster for 29 years. I have two daughters. Ashley and Jessica graduated from Thompson High School. They both went to Alabama even though we are Auburn fans. In our spare time, Doug and I love to travel or take our dogs, Riley and Razzi for walks or rides to Dairy Queen.
2. Will my child have homework?
There will be two homework assignments per nine weeks. Your child should read a book from the school library, AVL (Alabama Virtual Library), MackinVIA or Learning Ally. I’ll go over those with the students at the beginning of the year. Let me know if you have any questions. If you would like to use something else, please let me know at least 48 hours before the assignment is due. Students should read something more than Diary of a Wimpy Kid. They may read graphic novels. Due dates will be posted in Google Classroom at the beginning of each nine weeks.

What is the discipline policy?
TMS works on a three strike system for Class I violations. Strike one is a warning. Usually there have been verbal warnings before this point. Once a student gets strike two, I will notify the parent. At strike three, there will be an office referral. Typically, classroom disruptions (major and/or numerous) and defiance are usually the issue(s). As a general rule, anything that interferes with student learning or my teaching is a problem.
