I was born in Wisconsin, grew up in St. Louis, MO, but have spent the last 32 years here in Alabama. The South has truly become my home!

I attended the University of Missouri in Columbia where I earned my bachelor's degree in Education. I went on to earn my Masters in Library Science from the University of Alabama. I was a member of the 2020 Newbery committee where history was made in choosing Jerry Craft's "New Kid" as the first graphic novel to win.

Besides my love of reading, I also love being a Gigi and traveling.

I am married and we have two sons. Our oldest lives in New York City and our youngest lives in Vermont.

We also have four rescue dogs who keep us busy.

Summers are spent traveling and reading. We have camped in 15 national parks and our adventures have taken us to 48 states and 18 countries.

I have been working at Thompson Middle for 17 years. This year begins my 24th year in education. All of those years have been spent in the library. I have the best job in the world and I can't even imagine doing anything else!
