Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Master of Secondary Education
My name is Kimberly Sawyer and I am a 6th grade math teacher at Thompson Sixth Grade Center(TSGC). I grew up in Pelham, AL. I graduated from Pelham High School in 2005. After high school I attend the University of Montevallo, completing my Masters in 2010. I have enjoyed living a being a part of the Alabaster community for the past 7 years. My husband and I got married this past November and are looking forward to celebrating our first anniversary together.
This is my first year joining the TSGC team, and I am thrilled to be a part of a wonderful staff and commuity. The past 7 years I have lived in Alabaster and working in the surrounding area. My first 5 years of teaching were spent at Shelby County High School in Columbiana, Alabama. I taught multiple levels during my time at Shelby Couny High, but longed to teach the foundations. I accepted a teaching postition at Oak Mountain Middle School following my fifth year and was with Oak Mountain for the past two years. Teaching at the middle school level has been a wonderful experience, and I was ecstatic to accept a postion in the community in which I live and am a part of. Students have so much life and energy and it pairs well with my teaching style. I look forward to continuing to make difference in students lives and foster a love of learning and mathematics!
I attended the University of Montevallo and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. To further my education and become a teacher, I returned to the University of Montevallo, where I also received my Master of Science degree in Secondary Education.
