Mrs. Avery Horton
I was born and raised in a small town called Valley Grande, just outside of Selma, Alabama. I attended Dallas County High School and graduated in 2011. After high school I went to Faulkner University in Montgomery to earn a B.A. in Mathematics, which I recieved in May 2015. Faulkner is also where I met my hunk of a husband, Brandon Horton. I began my teaching career in August 2015 at a small, 1A school in Autauga County - Billingsley High School. At Billingsley I taught Algebra 1A, Algebra II with Trig, Algebra with Finance, and AP Calculus AB. I was also the assistant varisty softball coach at BHS. We finished our season as the 1A State Runner Up. In November of 2015 I married Brandon and moved to Alabaster. This made my commute to Billinglsey an hour one way. Therefore, I began teaching at Thompson High School the following school year (August 2016). I began working on my Masters of Secondary Math Education at The University of West Alabama (online) in January of 2016. Last year at Thompson I taught Alg II with Trig and Algebraic Connections. I am also the head JV softball coach and the assistant varisty softball coach at THS. This will be my 2nd year at Thompson High School and my 3rd year teaching in total. I am very thankful to be apart of Alabaster City Schools and I look forward to another year as a Thompson Warrior!
