Hello! My name is Melissa Foster and I am the gifted resource teacher at Creek View Elementary. I have been teaching in the gifted and regular classroom for 30 years. For 20 years I taught kindergarten, as well as 2nd grade. For the last 10 years I have been teaching GRC (Gifted Resource Class) at Creek View. I was born and raised in the Birmingham area. I am married to a retired P.E. teacher. I have a son who is a junior at Troy University. He was in the gifted program when he was in the public school system so I also know and understand the gifted parent's perspective. I enjoy solving puzzles, reading, kayaking, biking and spending time outdoors with my family. This past year my family welcomed a new addition- Murphy. Murphy is a lovable and precious dog!
I count it a privilege to teach my students. In my classroom, I instill a passion for learning. Understanding the gifted child and their needs is vital in developing this passion. Not only are the cognitive needs addressed, but also the social and emotional needs of each child are met in my classroom. “Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow.” D’Angelo
