Degrees and Certifications:
I received a Bachelor's Degree from Samford University in 2002. I worked in the social service field and in the preschool setting before returning to school to get a Master's Degree in Collaborative Teaching K-6 from UAB in 2008. I am currently pursuing National Board Certification and hope to get a Doctorate degree someday. I believe in professional development and further education. I love to challenge myself so that I can be the best teacher I can be. I believe that my students are my greatest teacher.
I grew up with a sister with special needs and participated for several years with her at Special Olympics and various activities and therapies. I have worked as a case manager in the social service field, in a Montessori school setting, and was an instructional support aide in Hoover before returning to school to get a degree in Special Education. I have worked in homes providing tutoring and assisting with delivering ABA therapy. I am currently in my 7th year of teaching at Creek View and absolutely love coming to work everyday. I am current on my certification of Managing Crisis Safely (MCS) techniques. I feel blessed to work for Alabaster City Schools.
I grew up in Lakeland, Florida and moved to Alabama to attend college. I have been married for 13 years and have two beautiful children. My daughter is in 6th grade and my son is in 3rd. Our family resides in Alabaster and we have two huskies. We are huge animal lovers. The things I enjoy most are reading, crafting and gardening. I also love hunting, fishing, camping and traveling with my family. Since losing my mother to cancer, I have funraised for and volunteered time to families who are in the last stages of losing a loved one to cancer. This is my 4th year of leading my daughters' Girl Scout Troop. I love seeing the girls becoming leaders through volunteering for their community.
