I grew up in Mobile, AL and moved to Shelby County to attend the University of Montevallo. Despite always working with kids and even being a camp counselor, I had convinced myself I did not want to be a teacher. I majored in Mass Communications and minored in English. After graduation, I worked at several T.V. stations as a producer. I worked in the television business for four years before returning to school to become a teacher. It was one of the best decisions that I have ever made.
I began teaching in 2005 at Shelby County High School. The next year I began teaching at Chelsea Middle School and stayed there until 2011 when I moved to Thompson Sixth Grade Center. After teaching a variety of grades, sixth grade is my favorite to teach.
The love of learning has followed me in my teaching career. I have returned to school to receive my Gifted Education certification in 2009 and my Instructional Leadership certification in 2016.
I became a teacher the same year that I became a mom. My oldest son is a 7th grader and my youngest is a 3rd grader. My husband, boys, two labs and I call Alabaster home as well.
I love spending time outdoors and going for a good run. I also love listening to music and reading books.
I get excited every school year and I am committed to making each one the best one, yet. I want every child to feel comfortable in my classroom and I want to do what I can to help each child reach their full potential.
